Unconscionability
A contract law doctrine allowing courts to refuse enforcement of agreements that are so one-sided or oppressive as to shock the conscience. Courts examine both procedural unconscionability (unfairness in the bargaining process) and substantive unconscionability (unfairness in the contract terms themselves).
