Canon
A tradition's officially recognized, bounded collection of authoritative texts, such as the New Testament's twenty-seven books or the Pali Canon's early Buddhist scriptures. Canon formation is typically a documented historical process worked out over generations, distinct from a claim about the texts' religious authority or truth.
