Dao

"The Way" — an ultimate reality or underlying principle of the universe that Daoist philosophical texts, most centrally the Dao De Jing, hold resists fixed verbal definition. Described through suggestive imagery (water, an uncarved block) rather than propositional definition, since naming and categorizing are held to separate human beings from spontaneous alignment with the Dao's own natural way of operating.
