General Problem Solver (GPS)
A computer program created by Herbert Simon, Allen Newell, and Cliff Shaw that implemented means-ends analysis as a general problem-solving method. GPS demonstrated that a single architecture could solve problems across multiple domains, supporting the physical symbol system hypothesis.
