Half-Earth

E.O. Wilson's proposal to protect 50% of Earth's land and ocean surface as nature reserves — the minimum threshold that ecological models suggest is needed to prevent a cascading loss of biodiversity. More ambitious than any current political commitment but argued by Wilson to be the minimum necessary for long-term species survival.
