Kinship
The system of relationships, rights, and obligations organized around descent and marriage — the oldest and most universal form of human social organization, predating agriculture, writing, and the state. This course argues kinship is the original blueprint every larger political system had to improvise from once cooperation had to extend past the people whose reputations and relationships everyone could actually track.
