Vedas
The oldest layer of Hindu textual tradition, traditionally dated from roughly 1500 BCE onward and comprising four collections (Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda) centered on hymns, ritual formulas, and sacrificial procedure. Later texts including the Upanishads shift the tradition's center of gravity toward philosophical inquiry.
