Begging the question
A circular reasoning fallacy where the conclusion is smuggled into the premise, so the argument proves nothing. Example: 'Free speech is important because people should be able to say what they want.' The premise just restates the conclusion. Sound arguments derive conclusions from independent evidence, not from rephrasing the claim itself.
