Endogamy
A requirement or strong social pressure to marry within a defined group — the same caste, religion, class, or ethnic community. Most societies practice endogamy and exogamy simultaneously at different levels (don't marry your sibling, but marry within your religion), and American assortative mating by education and class functions as a statistically enforced, unnamed form of endogamy despite a cultural narrative that denies any such rule exists.
