Gene drive
A genetic engineering technology that ensures a modified gene spreads through a wild population much faster than normal inheritance would allow. Could theoretically eliminate disease-carrying mosquitoes or invasive species, but raises profound ecological concerns because the effects are potentially irreversible and self-propagating.
