CRISPR-Cas9

A gene-editing technology adapted from a bacterial immune defense system. Uses a guide RNA to direct the Cas9 protein to cut DNA at a specific location, enabling precise genetic modifications. Developed by Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier (2012). Applications range from medicine to conservation to agriculture.
