Hasty generalization
Jumping to broad conclusions from too few examples or unrepresentative evidence. Example: meeting three rude New Yorkers and concluding 'all New Yorkers are rude.' Good reasoning requires adequate sample size, representative selection, and awareness that exceptions exist. The remedy is to seek more evidence and qualify conclusions appropriately.
