Mutualism

A co-evolutionary relationship in which both species benefit. Examples include mycorrhizal fungi providing minerals to plant roots in exchange for sugars, gut bacteria digesting food in exchange for habitat, and cleaner fish removing parasites from larger fish. Mutualism is as powerful an evolutionary force as competition.
