Negative entropy
Erwin Schrödinger's concept from "What Is Life?" (1944): living organisms maintain their organized state by importing order (negative entropy) from their environment and exporting disorder. Life doesn't violate the second law of thermodynamics — it's an open system that maintains itself far from equilibrium.
