Out-of-Africa
The hypothesis, supported by genetic and fossil evidence, that anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens) evolved in Africa approximately 300,000 years ago and migrated to other continents beginning approximately 70,000 years ago. A small founding population generated a genetic bottleneck explaining lower genetic diversity outside Africa.
