Patrilineal
Descent traced through the father's line: a child belongs to the father's kin group and inherits property, status, or surname through his side. Historically the more common unilineal descent arrangement worldwide, visible in the widespread practice of a wife taking her husband's family name and children carrying the father's surname by default.
