The majority branch of Islam, holding that leadership after the Prophet Muhammad's death rightfully passed to a qualified individual selected by the community, beginning with Abu Bakr. Developed four major schools of jurisprudence (madhabs), and shares the Quran and Five Pillars with Shia Islam.
