Target-date fund

A mutual fund that automatically adjusts its asset allocation as a target retirement date approaches, shifting from growth-oriented stocks to more stable bonds. These 'set it and forget it' funds are popular in 401(k) plans because they handle rebalancing automatically. Named for their target year (e.g., Target 2050 Fund).
