Acetyl-CoA pathway
The most ancient metabolic pathway, used by both bacteria and archaea. Converts CO2 and H2 into organic molecules. Found in organisms living at alkaline hydrothermal vents, supporting the hypothesis that this pathway powered the earliest life.
