Agnosticism
A position holding that the evidence available to human beings does not settle, and perhaps in principle cannot settle, the question of a god's existence, requiring suspension of judgment rather than a positive or negative claim. Coined by biologist Thomas Henry Huxley in 1869, agnosticism is a claim about the limits of knowledge, distinct from atheism's positive claim that no god exists.
