Atheism
The positive claim or belief that no god or gods exist, understood by its own thoughtful adherents as a substantive metaphysical position requiring justification, distinct from agnosticism's claim about the limits of knowledge. Philosophers distinguish 'strong' atheism (a claim requiring active justification) from 'weak' or 'negative' atheism (the default absence of belief).
