Ethnomedicine
Any culturally specific system of explaining illness and structuring treatment — including biomedicine itself, which anthropologists argue is not culturally neutral despite its institutional self-presentation as the culture-free baseline other medical systems fall short of. Robert Hahn's extension of Arthur Kleinman's framework points to biomedicine's own cosmology, ritual specialists, sacred spaces, and historically specific institutional preferences as evidence.
